It contains chromium creating an invisible surface film that resists oxidation making the metal corrosion resistant. If the surface layer is damaged, it rebuilds itself in the presence of oxygen.

The 4-40 size works in place of original M3 screws that were used for the AC inlet, noval sockets, PCB and turret board standoffs, and the P-H1700 and S-HM100-A rotary selectors. These will also work well in many other types of projects.
